What is Archery A101?

A101: Intro to Archery is the ideal starting point for anyone who has ever wanted to pick up a bow. Whether you’re exploring a new hobby, looking for a fun family activity, or thinking about taking archery more seriously — this class gives you the foundation to do it right.

In six one-hour sessions, you’ll learn everything you need to feel confident and safe on the range: how to handle equipment properly, correct shooting form, and the range safety rules that every archer lives by. Our instructors create a welcoming, low-pressure environment where every student moves at their own pace and leaves each session feeling accomplished.

Option 1: A101 — Youth & Adults (Ages 8+)

Who it’s for: Beginners of all ages — great for families, teens, and adults exploring archery for the first time.

Duration: 6 sessions, 1 hour each

Cost: $240

Minimum Age: 8 years old (or 7 with pre-evaluation)

What you’ll learn:

  • Range safety rules and range etiquette
  • Proper shooting form and technique
  • Equipment basics — how to handle and use a bow safely
  • Building confidence and consistency on the range

Option 2: Adult A101 — Dedicated Adult Session (Adults 18+)

Who it’s for: Adults 18 and older who prefer a class paced specifically for adult learners — relaxed, encouraging, and focused.

Duration: 6 sessions, 1 hour each

Cost: $240

What you’ll learn:

  • The same core curriculum as A101 — safety, form, and equipment
  • Additional emphasis on pacing and comfort for adult learners
  • A supportive environment to build skills and confidence at your own speed

Many Adult A101 graduates go on to explore A102, Barebow Bootcamp, or private lessons.

  • All equipment provided: Bows, arrows, and targets are all provided — just show up.
  • What to wear: Comfortable, close-fitting clothing. Avoid loose sleeves. Closed-toe shoes required.

Do I need any experience to take A101?

No experience is needed at all — A101 is specifically designed for complete beginners. You’ll start from square one.

Students must be at least 8 years old. Students who are 7 may be admitted after a pre-evaluation with an instructor. If your child is younger, contact us to discuss options.

Yes! Adult A101 runs the same curriculum but is designed specifically for learners 18 and older who prefer an age-appropriate pace and setting.

The safety kit is a required item that includes basic protective gear for archery. It costs $25.99 + tax and is available at The Nock Point (our partner pro shop).

Most students continue to A102: Intermediate Archery, where you build on your foundation and develop more refined technique. Others explore Barebow Bootcamp or private lessons depending on their goals.
